Cleaning Artificial Turf For Dogs

Pet owners who have smaller yards or the majority of their backyard is concrete but want to have a special dog area.

Benefits of artificial turf for dog kennels and dog runs include allowing an owner to let their dog outside alone without worrying about traffic and keeping your Dog safe from vehicles and predators.  Artificial turf dog kennels and dog runs are commonly used to keep dogs in a confined area but also allow them  access to play and do their business.

When dog runs are installed on the owner’s property, its important to stay on top of keeping it clean.  Its much easier to clean than natural grass, but nothing is worse than that urine smell on hot days and the people that smell it the most are your neighbors.

We recommend the following cleaning system to keep artificial turf clean and smelling great for you, your dog, your family and YES, your neighbor!

The perfect odor prevention plan for dog runs is a combination treatment or artificial grass using TurFill to address continual urine.  The Bioturf Biost will treat the bacteria in the urine as well as feces and other contaminants.

TurFill Pet Deodorizer For Turf

The TurFill will reduce the sudden impact of the smell on really hot days and our BioTurf will eliminate the bacteria that causes the smell.  These two products when coupled effectivelly will increase the benefits to owning an artificial turf system.  Lets not forget picking up the dogs mess when needed.

Clean Turf

For pet owners with artificial grass seeking a highly-concentrated, organic, commercial grade bioA+enzymatic turf cleaner that effectively treats offensive pet odors and reacts to bacteria contaminants in artificial grass and other surfaces without harming pets and children.

BioTurf™ with BioS+ Technology is the perfect turf cleaner to keep your residential or commercial artificial grass FRESH and CLEAN!

BioTurf™ is a completely new approach to eliminating stains and treating pet odors in artificial grass and other surfaces. It’s CUSTOM FORMULATED for artificial turf, using naturally occurring organic digestive bio-enzymes. Using BioTurf™ artificial grass cleaners also reduces environmental impact and keeps your family safe from adverse, allergic reactions with using average cleaning products.

How To Clean Artificial Turf

  • Step 1:  Attach garden hose to BioTurf™’s BioSiphon special sprayer. *Remember to connect the straw to the sprayer!
  • Step 2:  Turn on the water – then turn the dial so that only water is spraying out of the sprayer.  Water should freely flow out of the end.
  • Step 3:  After the area has been sprayed down and cooled down, push or turn button on the side of the sprayer and BioTurf™ BioS or BioS+ will start to dispense. You will immediately begin to smell the fragrance.
  • Step 4:  Thoroughly saturate the soiled areas of the artificial turf with BioFresh. Focus on areas that are used more often by your pet (DO NOT APPLY IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT).

BioTurf™ BioS or BioS+ 4 oz Super Concentrate Quart Refill (32 oz)

  • Step 1: Easily mix the 4 oz of product into your 32 oz bottle and add 28 oz of water
  • Step 2: Shake thoroughly and apply reusing our BioSiphon Sprayer.

Note: Makes one quart (32 oz) of product. Best value for previous customer who purchased 32 oz concentrate with BioSiphon sprayer. Save $$ on shipping costs.

Other Helpful Hints On How To Clean Artificial Grass:

Typically the BioTurf™ super concentrate is used by owners who have larger dogs and have to frequently stay on top of urine contamination due to heat or other factors. Concentration mixture can be increased or decreased according to needs and level of contamination.

If you decide to mix our concentrate product into a gallon without the use of a garden sprayer or our sprayer, please make sure that you immediately use the product, as the enzymes will become unproductive over time, with no shelf life.

Use BioTurf later in the day when turf is out of the direct sunlight. This will speed up the process and you will not have to use as much product.

For best results, it’s important that the BioTurf™ enzymes are allowed to react to the contaminants.  The best environment for our product is when the artificial or natural grass is cool and out of direct sunlight. If the turf is hot prior to application, make sure you rinse off and cool the turf prior to applying for best results.

DO NOT APPLY IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT.

WARNING: HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting.  Get medical advice. In case of contact with skin or eyes, flush with large amounts of water. If irritation persists, get medical attention.

The Environmental Benefits of Artificial Turf

Many people envision coming home to a lush green yard with immaculately tended landscaping, but with a climate that is getting drier and drier, that tropical oasis in your backyard comes at a cost.

We would like to suggest a more environmentally-friendly alternative to natural grass lawns. But, first we need to answer this important question:

How does grass help the environment?

To be clear, grass does have a lot of benefits for the environment. Among others, it provides the topsoil cover that helps prevent soil erosion. However, when maintaining that lawn harms the environment in other ways, more sustainable alternatives must be sought. A good alternative is artificial grass, also known as artificial turf.

Artificial turf is good for the environment. But what are the specific artificial grass benefits to the environment?

Benefits of Artificial Grass on the Environment

Less Pressure on Water Sources

As populations boom, increasing pressure is put on already stressed water sources. So, as more people opt for artificial grass, which does not need any watering, the obvious benefit to the environment is water conservation.

This conserved water can be channeled to agricultural use, thereby helping to improve food security. Water conservation also protects marine ecosystems that help to maintain the world’s ecological balance as well as support the economies that depend on them.

Improved Supplies of Cleaner Energy

This is a less apparent benefit on the environment, but an important one all the same. As less pressure is put on our supply dams, water levels in the bigger ones that are also used for hydropower generation can be maintained at levels that make generation possible.

Hydropower plants require water levels in the supply dams to stay above the ‘dead water’ levels for the plants to remain operable. If that fails to happen and generation drops, people are forced to resort to electricity sources like coal and nuclear power plants whose emissions are bad for the environment.

Fewer Chemicals Polluting Our Water Sources

Lawns require consistent watering, fertilization, and pest control to keep it lush green. While there are natural alternatives, chemical fertilizers and pesticides are often cheaper, convenient, and more accessible. However, they are typically highly toxic and harmful to the environment, people, and pets. The effect on the environment is that when the rains come, all the excess chemicals from fertilizers and pesticides are washed into the river systems that feed our dams. This pollutes our drinking water and the natural habitats for the marine species we depend on for food.

So, is artificial turf good for the environment? Absolutely, it is. Artificial turf needs less maintenance than natural grass. But, it does need maintenance to stay in the best condition and to prolong its useful life. We are the leaders in artificial grass maintenance. Call us for a consultation.

Interested in Artificial Grass – Here Are the Benefits and Problems You Need to Know

A lot has been said about the benefits of artificial grass, of which there are quite a few, including the fact that it is good for the environment. First used in the 1960s, artificial grass has improved in both its quality and accessibility. It is no longer restricted to use on sports fields and other large commercial applications. With that said, there is quite a bit you need to consider before you install artificial turf on your property. To help us understand what that is, let’s quickly discuss the advantages and disadvantages of artificial grass.

The Pros and Cons of Artificial Grass

Artificial grass has great benefits for both the home and property owner as well as the environment. Below are some of the advantages:

Less Maintenance
Not exactly an install-and-forget solution, but artificial turf needs significantly less maintenance than natural grass. It does not need any mowing or pest control. For this reason, it is ideal for busy people.

Water Conservation
This one is for the environment. Water is a scarce resource and the less that is used on watering lawns, the more that can be reserved for drinking and food production.

Cost Efficiency
Less maintenance and lower water usage both mean savings for you. You won’t need to hire a weekly lawn service to keep your yard from becoming the talk of the neighborhood, and your water bill will not punch holes in your pocket.

Those are all great benefits that make artificial grass such an appealing alternative to natural grass lawns. But are there disadvantages you need to be aware of?

Artificial Grass Problems to Take Note Of

There aren’t that many disadvantages to artificial grass. Below we bring your attention to a couple things you may want to consider:

Heat Retention
Artificial grass retains more heat than natural grass. If you experience hot summer temperatures you may find your backyard less enjoyable during those times. But… if it’s that hot outside, you’ll probably want to stay in the air conditioning anyway. Not to mention those hot conditions would scorch a natural lawn (and you would have to water your grass often to keep it alive in those conditions). But with artificial grass, you don’t have to worry about that!

Artificial Grass Installations Are Costly to Replace
Changing your mind and choosing to go with a different solution after installing your artificial turf will cost you as there is some degree of permanence to these installations. We would suggest giving yourself time to adjust to your new yard before making any changes. After all, you chose it for good reasons!

Artificial grass needs significantly less maintenance, but it still isn’t 100% maintenance-free. If you prefer to have someone else handle all your artificial turf maintenance, we would be happy to do that for you. Call us to learn how we can help keep your artificial grass smelling fresh and looking its best for longer.

No More Mowing Your Lawn – The Benefits of Artificial Grass

recent study has shown that the average person spends two months of their life mowing the lawn! There are so many other things that you could be doing with that time! But, how can you escape the need for lawn maintenance and still be able to enjoy a vibrant, beautiful garden? The answer lies in artificial grass!

Below, we discuss some of the main pros and cons of installing artificial grass.

Low Maintenance

One of the most notable advantages of installing artificial grass is the fact that it requires very minimal maintenance. Unlike natural grass that needs to be watered, weeded, and mowed, the only thing that you will need to do to keep your turf in good condition is rinse it with your garden hose a few times a week and deodorize it to keep unpleasant odors at bay.

Costs

The artificial turf lawn cost may perhaps seem high at first, until you realize how quickly it pays for itself. You will save yourself thousands of dollars in the long run when you factor in how much it costs to maintain natural grass in terms of water and electricity!

Safety

Artificial grass is a big relief for parents who have small kids. It provides the little ones with a soft surface to cushion falls and is a lovely place on which to play. It is also really easy to keep clean (as mentioned above), so kids can enjoy lots of messy play outdoors.

Pet-Friendly

Yes, artificial turf is indeed pet-friendly! Urine drains away with ease in the same way as rain water, and you can effortlessly pick up any solid waste with a poop scoop. Simply rinse away the remaining residue and deodorize regularly to keep your grass smelling fresh. It is as simple as that!

Artificial Grass vs. Natural Grass – What Are the Differences?

If you’re thinking about investing in artificial grass — also often referred to as fake grass, AstroTurf, or artificial turf — you’re probably wondering what the main differences are between artificial grass and natural grass. To help you with your research, we’ve highlighted a few differences below.

Artificial Grass Requires Less Maintenance

Natural grass requires regular watering, weeding, and mowing. These chores are labor intensive and time consuming. In a day and age where we are constantly running around, the vast majority of us simply do not have this kind of time on our hands — nor do we have the energy! The main benefit of artificial turf is that it will not need to be watered, weeded or mowed. The only maintenance that you will need to perform is regular rinsing with a hose and deodorizing with a special artificial grass cleaning product like BioTurf BioS+ from TurFresh, which effortlessly removes pet odor and other unpleasant, lingering smells. TurFresh also provides professional turf cleaning services at incredible prices so you don’t need to worry about performing any maintenance on your artificial grass yourself!

Artificial Grass Always Looks its Best

No more patches, uneven growth, or dead grass. With artificial turf, your lawn will always look its best regardless of the weather conditions outside or how much time you spend caring for it. This means that you will be able to invite guests over whenever you want without having to stress about the state of your outside entertainment area! What a relief.

Artificial Grass is Cheaper

Is artificial grass more expensive than real grass? While it may be more expensive initially to have artificial grass installed, it will pay for itself in a very short period considering how little maintenance it requires and how little water you will need to use to keep it fresh and clean.

Now you know all that you need to know about turf vs. grass! Want to know more about our world-class artificial turf maintenance services for residential and commercial turf? Then be sure to get in touch with us today!

How Do You Maintain Artificial Grass When You Have Dogs?

Despite it being so much easier to maintain, you may be unsure as to whether or not artificial grass is an option for you if you have pets. After all, how do you maintain artificial grass when you have dogs that seem to poop around the clock? The answer might surprise you. In fact, artificial grass and dogs mix quite well.

Can Dogs Pee and Poop on Artificial Grass?

Yes, dogs can pee and poop on artificial grass — just like they would on natural grass. The good news is that you will not have to clean urine from your artificial grass. It drains away in the same way as rainwater. However, you will need to scoop up and dispose of dog poop just as you would do when your furry friend makes a mess on regular grass. It is also recommended to hose down the poop-affected area to completely eliminate any residual mess.

Can You Jet Wash Artificial Grass?

Yes, you can jet wash artificial grass. But, it can be costly and is not necessary, even if you have pets. A high-quality artificial turf cleaner will usually do the trick.

Dealing with Pet Odor in Artificial Grass

When it comes to fake pet grass, there is one thing that you will need to keep in mind: odor. Even the best artificial grass will eventually start to give off an odor if your pet pees and poops on it. Luckily, if you are wondering what neutralizes dog urine and keeps that nasty odor at bay, we have a solution for you.

TurFresh is the creator of BioS+ Enzyme Technology. All of our turf cleaners for dog grass treat the odor-causing compounds and stains in artificial grass along with many other surfaces. Turfcleaning with BioS+ provides immediate relief from unpleasant smells by binding these odor-causing molecules, reducing their volatility, and preventing them from reaching the nose. It’s the ultimate solution for maintaining fake grass for dogs!
