Odor solution without the pollution!
Product FAQs
What makes TurFresh™ with BioS+ Pet Odor Eliminator different from the competition?
Simple. There’s no competition! TurFresh™ is the only professional artificial turf cleaning technology company that brings you the BioS+ artificial grass organic enzyme cleaning system. There are similar products that make similar claims, but they simply don’t add up to the BioS+ commercial-grade product that we have formulated. The water dilution ratio of our competition is too high, not allowing for enough enzymes to saturate the artificial grass surface. Furthermore, our claims are based on real-life tests. We use and manufacture the product ourselves on a daily basis. Our core product was created by our own needs, so the quality and reliability of the product had to be there. If not, we would not have been in business for over 15 years.
Is TurFresh™ with BioS+ safe and has it been tested?
TurFresh™ with BioS+ is manufactured in a facility that has been registered to ISO 2000 standards. Tight controls and stringent tests are incorporated into the production process to ensure that our products are manufactured to the highest quality standards.
Finished product ingredients are tested using procedures recommended by the United States Department of Agriculture, The National Science Foundation, and the Scientific Associated Dedicated to Analytical Excellence. This ensures that they’re free of gram negatives, salmonella, and shigella.
I bought TurFresh™ and it seems to not work like I thought. What should I do?
Our product is the #1 product for cleaning and treating artificial turf. The BioS+ enzyme completely deodorizes and removes bacteria, however, we occasionally receive feedback from a client claiming that the product is not working at an optimum level or the odor comes back in a couple of days. Results from our lab testing, onsite applications, and customer surveys demonstrate that TurFresh™ completely eliminates foul turf odor.
The following scenarios may require additional elbow grease to treat and eliminate the smell of urine:
PROBLEM |
REMEDY |
The volume of urine or pooping is higher due to multiple dogs, even after continued multiple-uses, the smell returns quickly. This is typical of dog daycare centers. | Purchase the product in larger volumes/quantities for discounts, but all of the above becomes even more critical and continuous maintenance programs need to be implemented. Include frequent water saturation and use a pressure hose to decompact potential hair and sediment buildup. As long as your turf drains properly and you keep hair off the surface, you should be fine. |
Product applied during hot weather. | Ensure that the product is applied during the evenings or early mornings which allows the BioTurf BioS+ technology to multiply for an extended period of time and maximize its effectiveness. Do not apply in the hot sun or without cooling down your turf with water. You are throwing money away if you break this rule. |
Artificial turf was placed on dirt without a sub-base. This type of installation is not based on artificial turf manufacturer specifications, so if water does not drain properly from your turf, the urine will typically saturate itself into the compacted soil. This prevents our cleaner from penetrating the soil for proper treatment. | Remove turf and 3″ of dirt. Replace with road base and compact accordingly. If you remove the turf to remedy this situation, add a couple more drains (the more drains the better). You may want to add TurFill on top of your base to be more aggressive. |
Sand is used as an infill. Sand absorbs too much urine and compacts very easily. | Remove all the sand with a shop vac and use TurFill (or an antimicrobial coated silica sand). Sand is not appropriate for a pet application, since it absorbs and holds too much moisture. |
Turf has not been decompacted or aerated. | Use a pressure washer to completely decompact infill and also clean the turf backing of contaminants. Using a pressure washer with a surface sweeper is the best method. If you can, rent or get a hold of a turf brush to remove hair, as this would help the decompacting process. You can find turf cleaning accessories and tools from our online store. |
DrainCore and weedsheet was installed to assist with the drainage | We have not had a lot of positive experiences with customers who have installed DrainCore and weed sheets. Unless the appropriate amount of water is used to push the urine into the drainage system on a consistent basis, the urine tends to pool on the plastic barrier, making the problem more challenging to rectify. You may also not have enough drains installed to properly flush your turf. |
Does Vinegar work to remove the smell?
No, we don’t know how or why this urban legend has gained momentum. No, No and Never. Also, do not use bleach or any other chemical. This can be dangerous to your pets and your family. This recommendation was created prior to the creation of our product and this was simply because there were no other solutions but to mask the odor.
Is TurFresh™ a true "Green Product"?
Yes. TurFresh™ is an all-natural microbial enzymatic artificial grass cleaner that provides cleaning and odor control by consuming and degrading the waste that causes the odors. The residue left behind is simply a small amount of carbon dioxide and water, which eventually evaporates, leaving your grass surface and infill odor-free.
Since TurFresh™ turf cleaning microbes are so efficient at consuming and degrading organic waste, they will out-compete the harmful pet bacteria on the surface, causing them to die. The only residue left is completely safe for humans and pets.
Is TurFresh™ or TurFill harmful to humans or pets?
TurFresh™ is made with all-naturally occurring bacteria and there are no “genetically modified organisms (GMO)” in our products. TurFresh™ is completely safe for people who use the product, safe for animals and pets, safe for the environment, and safe for aquatic life. We do recommend using common sense safety precautions and keep the product away from children. Our TurFill product is a naturally occurring volcanic rock that is used in many different holistic methods.
How much TurFill do I need for my turf?
Our TurFill artificial turf infill odor eliminator immediately treats odors from pet turf urine. Use TurFill as a preventative measure and our TurFresh BioS+ product to treat urine that has already infiltrated the base, infill, turf or drain. Each square foot or artificial grass turf requires about 1/4 to 2 pound of TurFill turf infill product. Use more in areas where your pet may focus.
Why is shipping so much for TurFill?
Simply because it weighs 40lbs. We base all of our shipping cost on weight, so our automated USPS or FedEx system automatically calculates it.
I own a doggie daycare with artificial grass, will this work?
Yes! We have many doggie daycare centers as customers. The number of dogs and type of business model allow for a wholesale dealership opportunity based on need. Dealers are required to purchase a minimum of 5 cases and cross linking between websites, which provides for a nice TurFresh™ discount. This fosters a clean environment for your dogs, a higher level of customer confidence and a business opportunity for clients who may have a similar pet odor issue at home. When doggie daycare owners purchase larger amounts, such as our 5 gallon concentrate product, the level of necessary dilution may vary. We typically recommend starting with one ounce of product dilution per gallon using an adjustable hose end sprayer.
The tab on the Bio-Siphon has a tab in the way?
Apply some additional force while turning the knob. The tab looks like it’s in the way, but if you turn the knob with some extra force, it will give in and begin to dispense the cleaner.
Why isn’t my sprayer working?
We get this question occasionally and 99% of the time it has to do with not connecting the siphon straw to the sprayer. There is a siphon straw that comes with your Bio-Siphon sprayer that must be connected prior to connecting the BioSiphon sprayer to the bottle. This is what mixes the proper amount of TurFresh product into the stream of water injecting into the sprayer from the hose.
When can my pets or kids use the artificial grass?
After you apply our TurFresh™ product to your artificial grass surface, you can use your artificial grass or surface immediately after you apply TurFresh™ BioS+
How much TurFresh™ do I use?
The frequency of application is heaviest initially, and trends downward over time to match the square footage and application recommendations on the bottle. There is no right answer as to the frequency of application, since all application needs are different, but historically the frequency follows the number of dogs you own. If you have one dog, treatment once a month during the hot season, and about every other month during the winter. Couple the application with frequent watering. Remove dog hair buildup — dog hair is a nasty culprit because it can clog the drainage capacity of your artificial turf. Also, use a pressure washer to clean turf and flush out the debris stuck between the infill particles. Be careful not to blow all the infill away but don’t be afraid to be aggressive the first time and then just purchase some additional infill from us or your local contractor.
I need to clean indoor artificial grass, how do I do that?
Cleaning indoor artificial grass is the same in concept, but different in application. Indoor spaces typically do not have the drainage to allow for use of a hose. To use our TurFresh with BioS+ Pet Odor Removal indoors, use a pump sprayer to limit saturation of the artificial grass. Because our BioS+ products come in a concentrated version, you can mix a ratio of 1 part TurFresh to 4 parts water in a bottle sprayer and hit specific spots that need focused cleaning treatments.
How long do I have to wait after application to use the turf?
The enzymes work instantly upon application, but the longer you can keep your turf wet, the deeper the cleaning process will be. If you are having a party or have kids or pets that want to play, the turf is safe for use. No need to wait since our product is all-natural, safe, green, and smells great.
I want to ship to Hawaii, how do I do that?
You can visit www.shiptohawaii.com and they can save you a lot of money in shipping costs.
Do we ship to Canada or Australia?
As of today we do ship to Canada or Australia, but these orders must be called in or sent via email. In your email, you must provide us with your specific shipping address and we will respond to your email with a breakdown of costs. With out of the country shipments, we highly recommend the 16oz super concentrate because you can dilute the product with water yourself and save a lot of money on delivery costs. The best product for smaller orders is a 16oz super concentrate.
Will TurFresh™ kill my plants?
TurFresh is an all-natural turf cleaning liquid. The enzymes will NOT kill, damage, or hurt plants.
What is the mixing ratio of your sprayer?
Our sprayer allows for 4.35 oz for every gallon of water that comes through the BioSiphon Sprayer. If you use a garden sprayer, start with a 1 fluid oz of TurFresh to a gallon of water on your settings and work your way up to no more than 4 oz of TurFresh per gallon of water. You can only do this with an adjustable sprayer.
Can I use TurFresh™ with BioS+ to treat nasty smelling odors that are not pet related?
Absolutely! We recommend using our product on any odor, organic or non-organic, including feces, vomit, sweat, and urine. TurFresh BioS+ is also perfect for your teen’s gym bag, baby’s diaper pail, and even fishing boat gear!
