Common Artificial Grass Repairs, Explained Honestly
Separated Artificial Turf Seams
One of the most common artificial grass repair problems.
Seams can begin separating because of improper installation, adhesive failure, movement, age, heavy traffic, base movement, or expansion and contraction. Depending on the condition of the existing turf, TurFix may be able to reconnect separated turf sections, repair or reinforce the seam, reposition surrounding artificial grass, secure loose areas, and reduce the visibility of the repaired seam.
Not necessarily. Artificial turf fibers change appearance as they age and wear. A repaired seam can often be dramatically improved, but we don’t promise that an older or damaged seam will become completely invisible. Our goal is a strong, clean and realistic repair, not an unrealistic promise. One more honest note: seams naturally expand and contract with temperature, and a seam that keeps separating almost always traces back to the original installation rather than anything maintenance can solve. We will secure and improve what can be improved, and we will tell you plainly when a seam problem is an installation problem.
Wrinkled, Rippling or Loose Artificial Grass
Does your artificial grass look wavy?
Wrinkles and ripples can develop when synthetic turf becomes loose or moves over time. Heat, improper installation, insufficient fastening, base movement and normal aging can all contribute. In some situations, TurFix technicians can release, stretch, reposition and re-secure the existing turf. The condition of the turf, seams, perimeter and original installation determines how much correction is possible.
Artificial Turf Edge Repair & Re-Nailing
Small perimeter problems caught early can prevent much larger repairs later.
Loose turf around concrete, pavers, walls, planters and other perimeter areas can create an unfinished appearance and potentially become a trip hazard. Where appropriate, TurFix can pull back the turf edge, reposition the material, re-secure the perimeter, replace or add fastening where needed, and clean up the transition between turf and surrounding surfaces.
Artificial Grass Patch Repair
Sometimes the entire lawn is perfectly usable except for one damaged section.
Artificial turf can be damaged by hot objects, fire pits and grills, reflected heat, construction work, landscaping equipment, furniture, pets, chemical exposure, excessive wear, or cutting and tearing. When appropriate, TurFix can remove the damaged section and install a replacement piece of artificial grass.
This is important: we cannot guarantee a perfect match. Artificial turf changes color and texture as it ages, and manufacturers discontinue products and change fiber designs over time. Even when replacement turf is very similar, a new patch may initially look different from the surrounding artificial grass. We’ll explain that before performing the repair.
Sunken Artificial Turf & Low Spots
A depression in artificial grass isn’t always a problem with the grass itself.
Low spots can develop because of base settlement, poor initial compaction, drainage issues, soil movement, heavy objects, animal activity, underground repairs, or repeated traffic. Depending on the situation, our technicians may be able to pull back the artificial turf, correct the affected area underneath and reinstall the existing turf. More extensive base or drainage failures may require additional work or referral to an artificial turf installer.
Pet Turf Repairs
Dogs can be surprisingly hard on artificial grass.
Digging, repeated traffic, loose edges and damaged areas can eventually affect even high-quality pet turf installations. TurFix can evaluate pet-related damage and determine whether individual sections can be repaired rather than replacing the entire lawn.

Putting Green Repair
Artificial putting greens require a different repair approach than standard landscape turf. Putting green seams are a specialized installation discipline and fall outside our restoration and cleaning scope, so we will refer seam work on greens to an installer rather than attempt it.
The surface, seams, infill, contours and turf direction can all influence ball roll. TurFresh can evaluate loose putting green turf, damaged sections, edges, surface irregularities, low areas, infill conditions and overall playability. Because every putting green installation is different, repairs are evaluated individually, and TurFresh will never promise an exact green speed or tournament specification without first evaluating the existing surface. The majority of the artificial turf is still in good condition, the damage is localized, the turf fibers still have useful life remaining, and the underlying installation can reasonably be corrected.
